Plagiarism Policy
Abdimasya: Journal of Community Service and Community Empowerment is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. All manuscripts submitted to the journal will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin or other reliable similarity detection tools.
Similarity Check
Before entering the peer-review process, each submitted manuscript will undergo a similarity screening. The maximum acceptable similarity index is 20%, excluding references, quotations, and commonly used methodological or community engagement phrases. Manuscripts that exceed this threshold may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected at the initial editorial stage.
Types of Plagiarism
The journal recognizes several forms of plagiarism and scholarly misconduct, including but not limited to:
-
Direct Plagiarism – Copying text, framework descriptions, or field data from another source without proper citation or quotation.
-
Self-Plagiarism – Reusing significant portions of one’s own previously published work, project reports, or articles without proper citation.
-
Mosaic Plagiarism – Borrowing phrases, community intervention ideas, or models from various sources without appropriate attribution.
-
Data Fabrication or Falsification – Manipulating, inventing, or altering community service data, field outcomes, interview responses, or documentation results.
Editorial Actions
If plagiarism or data misconduct is detected during the editorial review or peer-review process, the editorial team will take appropriate actions depending on the severity of the case:
-
Minor Similarity Issues: Authors may be asked to revise the text, rephrase, and properly cite the initial sources.
-
Moderate Plagiarism: The manuscript may be formally rejected and returned to the authors with a detailed explanation.
-
Severe Plagiarism: The manuscript will be rejected immediately, and the authors’ home institution or affiliation may be formally notified if necessary.
If plagiarism is discovered after official publication, the journal will issue a correction, expression of concern, or a formal retraction of the article in accordance with the ethical guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Author Responsibility
Authors are strongly encouraged to check the originality and similarity index of their manuscripts using reliable plagiarism detection software prior to submission. By submitting their manuscript to Abdimasya: Journal of Community Service and Community Empowerment, authors confirm that the work is entirely original, represents authentic field implementation, and has not been plagiarized from any source.
