Author Guideline

General Author Guidelines

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal submission system at:

https://journal.novantara.org/index.php/abdimasya/about/submissions

Abdimasya: Journal of Community Service and Community Empowerment, published by Novantara Cendekia in collaboration with Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) Nurul Abror Al Robbaniyin, accepts original articles, conceptual studies, and implementation reports in the fields of community engagement, social innovation, and sustainable empowerment.

Submitted manuscripts must meet the following requirements:

  • The manuscript must be written in English or Indonesian.

  • The manuscript must be original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  • The manuscript should include the following information:

    • Title of the article

    • Full name(s) of the author(s)

    • Author affiliation(s)

    • Corresponding author email address

    • Abstract

    • Keywords

  • Manuscripts must follow the journal template and structure required by the journal.

Manuscript Structure

1. Title

The title should clearly reflect the content of the community service activity, be concise, informative, and demonstrate the core impact or innovation of the empowerment project.

2. Abstract

The abstract should briefly describe the purpose of the community engagement, the problems faced by the target community, the implementation method, the main outcomes/transformations achieved, and the conclusion.

Requirements for the abstract:

  • Written in one paragraph

  • Maximum 200 words

  • Written in English

  • Followed by 3–5 keywords

3. Introduction

The Introduction should include:

  • Community context and public problems/challenges faced by the target community.

  • Urgency of the intervention or community service activity.

  • Brief review of relevant previous empowerment models or related studies.

  • The chosen approach or solution proposed to address the issues.

  • Objectives of the community service initiative.

This section should be written as a continuous narrative without subheadings.

4. Implementation Method (Method)

The Method section explains how the community service or empowerment activity was planned, executed, and evaluated. It should include:

  • The target audience or partner community profile.

  • Phases of the empowerment program (e.g., planning, training, mentoring, and field execution).

  • Data collection or mapping techniques (e.g., Asset-Based Community Development/ABCD, Participatory Action Research/PAR).

  • Evaluation methods used to measure the program's success or social impact.

The method section should be written clearly in paragraph form.

5. Results and Discussion

The Results and Discussion section presents the concrete outcomes of the community service activity and provides critical analysis. Authors should present original field data and community transformation indicators obtained through various techniques such as:

  • Interviews with community leaders or participants

  • Direct field observations

  • Pre-test and post-test questionnaires

  • Program documentation and public surveys

Tables, figures, high-quality photographs of field activities, and diagrams may be included to support the presentation of results. The discussion should analyze the sustainability of the program, the obstacles faced, changes in community capacity, and relate the findings to relevant empowerment theories and previous literature.

6. Conclusion

The Conclusion summarizes the main outcomes of the empowerment initiative, highlights the social transformation achieved, and outlines recommendations for future sustainable projects.

The conclusion should be:

  • Concise

  • Written in narrative form

  • Avoiding bullet points or numbering.

7. Acknowledgement

The Acknowledgement section may be included after the conclusion to recognize individuals, funding ministries/agencies, partner institutions, or specific community groups that actively supported and participated in the execution of the project.

8. References

All references must follow the APA Style 7th Edition.

Reference requirements:

  • Minimum 20 references

  • At least 80% of references must be from scholarly sources (journals/books) published within the last 10 years.

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to cite recent national and international journal articles related to community development.

Authors should use reference management tools such as Mendeley or Zotero to ensure citation consistency.

Manuscript Preparation

Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the official journal template provided by Abdimasya. Manuscripts that do not follow the journal guidelines, focus and scope, or formatting requirements may be returned to the authors for revision before entering the official double-blind peer-review process.
