Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief of Abdimasya: Journal of Community Service and Community Empowerment is responsible for deciding which manuscripts submitted to the journal should be published. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript’s originality, practical merit, methodological rigor in community engagement, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editors may consult with members of the editorial board and peer reviewers when making publication decisions. All decisions must comply with applicable legal requirements concerning plagiarism, copyright infringement, and defamation.

Fairness and Editorial Independence

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on the basis of their academic content, field significance, and intellectual merit without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. Editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by commercial, institutional, or corporate interests.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must maintain the strict confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Information about a manuscript should not be disclosed to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher as necessary during the editorial process.

Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts must not be used in an editor’s or reviewer’s own research or community project without the explicit written consent of the author. All parties involved in the publication process must disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect the evaluation of a manuscript.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and provides authors with constructive feedback to improve the quality, execution logic, and clarity of their community service manuscripts.

Confidentiality

Reviewers must treat all manuscripts received for review as confidential documents and must not share or discuss them with others without explicit authorization from the editor.

Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively and supported by clear, constructive arguments. Personal criticism of the author or the community group involved is highly inappropriate.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant scholarly works or existing empowerment models that have not been cited by the authors, and inform the editor of any substantial similarity between the manuscript under review and other published works.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or institutional relationships with the authors or the target communities.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors should present an accurate, objective, and honest account of the community service or empowerment initiative conducted. Sufficient detail, implementation steps, and references should be provided to allow other practitioners or researchers to replicate or adapt the study.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Any use of the work, frameworks, models, or ideas of others must be properly and accurately cited.

Multiple or Redundant Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publish the same community service data and reports in multiple journals.

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, field facilitation, or interpretation of the community empowerment project. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or other conflicts of interest that may influence the results, data, or interpretation of their community engagement reports.

Correction of Errors

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published article, the author must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.

Handling Allegations of Research Misconduct

Abdimasya: Journal of Community Service and Community Empowerment does not tolerate research and publishing misconduct, including data fabrication, falsification of community outcomes, citation manipulation, or plagiarism. Allegations of misconduct will be handled thoroughly according to the guidelines of COPE.

If misconduct is confirmed, the journal will take appropriate actions, including manuscript rejection, publication of formal corrections, or retraction of the article to maintain the absolute integrity of the scholarly record.

Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections

The journal welcomes scholarly discussions, constructive critiques, and corrections regarding published articles. Readers may submit comments or corrections to the Editor-in-Chief via official email. If accepted, the discussion may be published in a subsequent issue as a Letter to the Editor, and the original authors will be given the formal opportunity to respond.
